AirX is looking for an Aircraft Performance Engineer to join the Operations Department in Malta reporting directly to the Nominated Person Ground Operations.
Role
The role of this position is to provide technical expertise on all relevant Flight Ops performance engineering aspects, including but not limited to aircraft performance, weight and balance, aircraft performance monitoring, engine out procedures, aircraft documentation, operations planning and optimization, fuel conservation and operating cost optimization.
This role is also the focal for the Airbus performance tools, to strive to improve the performance efficiency of operations.
Main Duties
• Provide technical advice and assistance on all Aircraft Performance Engineering.
• Contribute to performance documentation technical content, customization, revision and production in relevant published manuals and support material.
• Ensure that regulated performance for Take-off, en-route and Landing are monitored and revised on a regular basis.
• Constant monitoring and updating of airport database.
• Design, validation, and implementation of engine-out procedures.
• NOTAM assessment and implementation configuration and maintenance of the electronic performance tools (Flysmart and PEP)
• Validation as appropriate of escape procedures for Drift down and depressurization.
• Configuration and maintenance of the electronic performance tools.
• Research and apply methods to increase weights from landing performance penalties.
• Contribute to Weight and Balance aspects, including but not limited to in service modification and reweigh calculation and validation.
• Ensure that non normal procedures, or dispatch under MEL items that affect aircraft performance are analyzed, and proper guidance produced for crew and Dispatch.
• Running Reports and statistics related to Operational matters.
• Act as required validator and crosscheck flight plan and performance software data.
• Support and administer Flysmart tool.
• Support ACARS/datalink service provision (role specific).
• Review Airfield Type a and B obstacle charts for analysis and issue resolution.
• Act as Aircraft performance Monitoring focal, to ensure that back office and aircraft systems accurately reflect aircraft specific fuel flow.
• Perform and report on APM and ensure liaison with CAMO and NPGO.
• Support NPFO and NPGO in fleet and route evaluation, and development activity
• Manage the FMS Nav database to ensure sufficient coverage for area of operation.
Skills and Requirements
• High English proficiency.
• Experience in Airline Flight Operations and support systems
• Strong knowledge in Aircraft Performance (Aircraft & Engine performance, Flight physics & Mechanics, Aerodynamics) is key.
• Preferably with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (aeronautical/aerospace strongly preferred) or equivalent.
• Airbus Dispatch, aircraft performance and Performance Engineer courses an asset.
• Passionate, organized & a responsible work ethic in combination with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Keeping abreast of developments in the field of Word Processing, Excel, and other job-related computer software.
• Willing to attend training courses related to the post if required.
• Ideally will have at least 2-year experience in a similar role.
• Excellent knowledge and computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other job position related software applications.
• Excellent communicator with a good understanding towards the needs of others and answering any queries efficiently.
• Ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
• Maintain the required confidentiality.
• Must have ability to work flexible schedule within a fast-paced environment of business aviation, requiring non-standard work hours and on call response.
