About the Role
DOA21 Ltd is a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Design Organisation (DOA) based in Malta. We specialize in offering tailored aircraft modifications and repairs across a wide range of disciplines, including Structural, Electrical, Avionics, ECS, Cabin Safety, including Flight Conditions/Permit to Fly.
We are seeking an experienced an Electrical Design Engineer to join its Design Organisation.
The successful candidate will support the development, substantiation, certification and release of electrical and avionics design solutions for aircraft modifications and certification projects. Working within the company’s approved Design Organisation procedures, you will contribute to the delivery of safe, practical and compliant engineering solutions in accordance with applicable EASA Part 21 and airworthiness requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare electrical and avionics design data for aircraft modifications and installations.
Produce and review engineering, installation, assembly and interface drawings, wiring designs and parts lists.
Support electrical and avionics installation design, wiring routing, EWIS evaluations and Electrical Load Analysis.
Prepare and contribute to design reports, compliance documentation, equipment qualification, system safety evaluations, test plans and certification reports.
Support compliance demonstration against applicable certification requirements, including CS-23 and CS-25 where relevant.
Review aircraft manuals, drawings, specifications, service bulletins and technical records.
Work closely with Compliance Verification Engineers, suppliers, customers, maintenance organisations and regulatory authorities.
Support aircraft surveys, embodiment activities, conformity inspections and testing where required.
Identify and communicate technical, certification and compliance risks at an early stage.
Ensure engineering records and design data are accurate, controlled and produced in accordance with DOA procedures.
About You
You will ideally have:
A degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Previous electrical and/or avionics design experience within aviation, aerospace, defence or another regulated engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of electrical and avionics design principles, aircraft installations, wiring routing and manufacturing methods.
Experience producing engineering drawings and technical design documentation.
Experience with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor or equivalent.
The ability to interpret aircraft manuals, drawings, specifications and other technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail with a practical and solution-focused approach.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation would be highly advantageous, together with knowledge or experience of:
EASA Part 21 Subpart J
CS-23 and/or CS-25
Aircraft modifications, repairs, STCs and major/minor changes
Aircraft electrical and avionics installations
Equipment qualification and system safety
Certification reports and compliance documentation
Aircraft surveys, embodiment, conformity inspections or flight testing
