The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Plant Technician to take a lead technical role within our Maintenance/Engineering team. The successful candidate will oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hotel's plant and mechanical systems, providing hands-on technical expertise while guiding and supporting junior technicians to ensure all equipment runs safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Take the lead on operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant room equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, HVAC systems, and water treatment plant
Plan and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical and electromechanical plant equipment
Diagnose complex faults and lead on repairs, minimising downtime and disruption to hotel operations
Oversee the pool plant, water systems, and related filtration/pumping equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
Guide, train, and supervise junior plant technicians and maintenance staff, allocating tasks and reviewing work quality
Maintain accurate logs of plant readings, maintenance carried out, and any irregularities, and report on plant performance to management
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and lead on risk assessments related to plant operations
Act as first point of escalation for plant-related breakdowns or emergencies, including on-call/shift cover as required
Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies for specialised servicing, repairs, or inspections
Support budgeting and planning for plant maintenance, upgrades, and capital projects
Work closely with the Maintenance Manager on wider technical and preventive maintenance strategy across the property
Requirements:
Several years of proven experience as a Plant Technician or similar role, with prior experience in a senior, lead, or supervisory capacity, ideally within a hotel, resort, or large commercial facility
Strong technical expertise in mechanical/electromechanical plant systems (boilers, chillers, HVAC, pumps, pool plant, etc.)
Relevant technical qualification (mechanical, electrical, or building services) required
Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Solid understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements relevant to plant operations
Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and plan maintenance schedules
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and be available for emergency call-outs
Good English communication skills, both written and verbal
