About the Role
The role will provide commercially focused legal advice and support on a broad range of day-to-day legal matters and helping to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Working closely with the Company's Head of Legal. The role will also drive the development and continuous improvement of the Legal function by establishing and enhancing legal processes, policies, governance frameworks, and operational procedures, leading strategic legal and regulatory projects, and implementing initiatives that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of legal service delivery.
Your Responsibilities
We are exploring ways to grow our team and in taking ownership of this role, your main areas of responsibility will be:
Manage the contract lifecycle, including contract creation, review, execution, renewal, termination and record management.
Design, implement, and maintain legal processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process redesign and automation.
Maintain contract repositories and governance standards.
Coordinate legal and regulatory transformation projects across the organisation.
Research, assess, and advise on legal risks associated with business decisions and operations.
Other Responsibilities:
Oversee the document execution process using electronic signature tools.
Assist with AML and KYC checks, when required.
Regularly update and maintain standard internal contract templates.
Identify and track legal issues, providing proactive advice on potential solutions.
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline legal processes using technology, if and where needed.
Perform other tasks as required.
Requirements
Education, Qualifications, and/or Experience
In possession of a law degree from an accredited institution.
At least 3-4 years of experience in a law firm or as an in-house Counsel.
Strong understanding of drafting of commercial contracts and knowledge of commercial law, preferably in telecommunications, e-commerce, information technology, software, or technology-related industries.
Experience in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts is essential.
A legal practicing warrant is considered an asset but is not essential.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
Knowledge of data protection legislation and legal compliance.
Knowledge of AML and KYC standards is considered an asset but is not essential.
Ability to build legal infrastructure in a growing organization.
A strong team player and leader with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
An effective communicator with fluency in English.
Ability to take ownership of projects and tasks and drive them to successful completion.
Ability to work under pressure and to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Good people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
