About the Role
Credit Manager / Senior Credit Analyst - 12 Month FTC (Resident in Malta or Hold an EU Passport)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Credit Manager, or a Senior Credit Analyst ready to step up, to help shape credit card strategy for a growing European portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Credit, the role will own credit risk strategy, performance monitoring, and the development of data, reporting and analytics to support responsible portfolio growth. This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving credit environment. Initially a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role depending on business needs.
Responsibilities:
Drive credit risk strategies across acquisition and customer management, including cut-offs, initial credit limits, affordability and credit line increase/ decrease programmes.
Lead regular and ad hoc analysis of key risk indicators, tracking performance against plan and using insights to inform strategy decisions.
Develop and maintain enhanced MI covering risk appetite, portfolio performance, strategy outcomes, live tests and emerging trends.
Provide clear credit risk updates to stakeholders and bank committees, proposing value-adding strategies where appropriate.
Work closely with Finance, Operations, Decision Science and other teams to support business growth, customer experience and effective credit solutions.
Enhance documentation for credit risk processes and provide input into Collections, Recoveries and Fraud strategies, considering changing regulatory standards.
Skills / Experience:
Essential
5+ years’ experience in credit risk, lending, portfolio management or credit analytics, ideally within consumer lending.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to translate credit performance into practical strategy recommendations.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain credit risk performance and strategy to senior stakeholders.
Good organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver effectively in a hands-on environment.
Proactive outlook, with a desire to improve processes, reporting and decisioning.
Strong commercial judgement and ability to balance growth, risk and customer outcomes.
Advantageous
Experience with credit cards or other retail lending products.
SQL, SAS, Python, Tableau, Power BI or similar analytical/reporting tools.
Exposure to collections, recoveries, fraud, affordability or credit line management strategies.
