Our Client,Malta’s leading waste management and environmental services company, is expanding its operations and is seeking an experiencedOperations Managerto lead day-to-day operational activities while supporting the company’s continued growth and the development of its forthcoming waste treatment facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and commercially effective operations, while leading teams, managing resources, supporting client relationships, and driving continuous improvement. This is a key leadership position for an individual who is passionate about operational excellence, sustainability, and contributing to Malta’s evolving waste treatment sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily waste management operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, operational continuity, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and optimise workforce, vehicles, equipment, and other operational resources to maximise productivity, minimise downtime, and control costs.
- Coordinate operational projects and collaborate with Project, Sales, Compliance, Permitting, Engineering, and Environmental teams to ensure successful delivery within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Monitor operational performance, costs, KPIs, forecasts, and project progress, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and service quality.
- Manage operational relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring high standards of service delivery and the prompt resolution of operational issues.
- Support the planning, development, commissioning, and operational readiness of the company’s new waste treatment facility, including SOPs, workflows, emergency procedures, contractor coordination, and equipment readiness.
Requirements
- Minimum5 years’ experience in operations managementor a related senior operational role, preferably within waste management, environmental services, industrial operations, or a similar sector.
- Proven experience inoperational planning, workforce management, resource allocation, and project coordination.
- Strong understanding ofwaste management practices, environmental obligations, health and safety requirements, and operational compliance.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to monitor operational costs, interpret KPIs, manage budgets, and identify opportunities for improved profitability.
- Excellentleadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships.
- Proactive and accountable approach, with a strong commitment tocontinuous improvement, sustainability, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Licenses & Qualifications
- A recognised qualification inOperations Management, Business Management, Environmental Management, Engineering, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications inwaste management, environmental management, health & safety, or quality managementwill be considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of applicableMaltese and EU environmental, waste management, and health & safety legislation.
- Experience working withregulatory authorities, audits, permitting processes, and integrated management systems.
- A validdriving licenceis required.
- Additional training or certification inproject management, risk assessment, ISO management systems, or operational excellencewill be considered an asset.
